As an entrepreneur, you understand the importance of being determined and finding solutions. However, there are many different challenges that you may face along the way that can test your strength and determination. There will be pitfalls that may seem insurmountable. The key to finding success is finding ways to turn those difficult situations and setbacks into learning experiences that you can use as motivation. Let’s take a look at some of the most common challenges, and how to overcome them:

Getting turned down or turned away

Whether you’re seeking out investors, partners, or just supporters for your business venture, you’re bound to run into roadblocks. There will be those disappointing situations where an investor says no, or a potential partner walks away. It’s important to remember that you do have other options, and there will be those who do believe in your vision. Even if it seems like you’re alone in your journey, you will find the right people to support you. Tighten up your focus, and be open to new ideas and new ways of approaching your business.

Struggling with time management

For most entrepreneurs, there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish everything that needs to be done. When you’re just starting out and working with a small budget, you have to wear all of the hats in your company. However, while it may seem financially savvy to try and do everything on your own, it actually can end up costing you in the long run.

The trick is to delegate and outsource when and where you can. Identify your strengths and your weaknesses, and then turn over the tasks that you simply aren’t well suited for to someone who is. You’ll free up more of your time so that you can focus on the bigger picture. You may also find that you can build a stronger team by working with individuals who understand your vision and want to help you bring it life.

Setting goals

When you’re just starting out with a new venture, you need to create and set your goals. Goals are the basis upon which you build the framework for your success, and they allow you to measure your progress at every step of the journey.

Without goals, you won’t have anything concrete to work towards, so it’s essential that you determine what they are right from the beginning. You may need to change or tweak some of them along the way, and that’s okay. Use your goals as motivation and milestones that will help you achieve the success that you’re striving for.

Dealing with failure

Failure is simply inevitable when you’re an entrepreneur. Even the most successful individuals have had failures, but what sets them apart is how they dealt with them. Just keep being persistent and pushing ahead. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t tweak or change your approach from time to time; on the contrary, if you feel like you keep hitting a wall, then it’s time to come up with a new strategy.

Successful entrepreneurs are unique individuals. What sets them apart from the rest is their determination and their ability to turn challenges into opportunities. If you’re struggling with any of these issues, just remember that you’re not alone. You can use these obstacles as a way to learn and to grow.

When You Feel Like Giving Up

You will be feeling this way quite often, I can assure you. Then you’ll need to know what you big “Why?” is. When you feel like just throwing in the towel, this is the only thing that will keep you hanging on.

Search deep inside you and ask yourself the real reason that you are walking the entrepreneur journey. Is this something that you want to do for the rest of your life? Do you want it so bad that you can’t imagine yourself doing anything else? If you dropped dead tomorrow, will your greatest regret be not succeeding as an entrepreneur?

What is you end goal?

Is it the fame and fortune of being a much envied successful startup ?

Is it finding a stable way of making money doing what you love?

Is it a way to retire in a few short years so that you can travel the world because you think that we are put on earth to enjoy ourselves instead of slaving our lives away?

Spend some time thinking about this. It will put a lot of things in perspective for you. Say for example you need to work on your website’s content on a Saturday night but you get a call from your friend to go for a drink and bitch about her boss. If your ‘why’ is very strong, you will remember that your persistence to work through the night will bring you one step closer to the days of not having a boss around.
